Description of the excursion
„The hidden Tenerife“
Our excursion in beautiful plant kingdom Anaga Mountains begins in the south of Tenerife and goes initially to La Laguna the capital in former times. La Laguna is since 1999 a world culture heritage. Ever since several hundreds there was also the diocesan town of Tenerife. This city is the oldest university town of the archipelago. Thence, we will continue our journey with entering in the „Monte de Las Mercedes“, a mystic laurel forest with unique cloud forests down the mountain sides. The Anaga Mountains is the oldest massiv of Tenerife with about 10 million years. It is often called the „hidden Tenerife“ because the beauty of it is mostly unexplored and many small villages are still secluded from the main road. In the informative visitor center „Cruz del Carmen“ you can catch a memorable view over the laurel forest (adapted WC). Our ride goes along in direction Casa de Afur across Taganana to the small village San Andrés. In the north part of this village we will reach the beach „Las Terisitas“ which was filled up with white sand from the sahara in 1973. Wave breakers with a length about 1000 m ought to protect previous to erosion. At this beach we will make our last stop to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. After the relaxing time, we will return back to the south.
