Description of the excursion

„Experience a millennium nature“

Get inspired by La Gomera, the secondary smallest island of the Canary Islands. We start our journey in the South of Tenerife, where we take the ferry (adapted WC) from Los Cristianos to San Sebastian, the capital of La Gomera. The island is also called the „Island of Columbus“ because Christopher Columbus has been providing him with food on his way to the new world. You can still descover trails of Columbus in the capital San Sebastian. A special highlight of this island is the defence „Torre del Conde“ which is a medieval fortress and the oldest preserved building of the Canary Islands. Thence, we will start the round trip via Hermigua further to Las Bolas to make a stop at the interesting visitor’s center (adapted WC). Here you can discover a beautiful garden with typical Canarian plants as well as small shops with typical handicraft and home-baked pastries of the insulars. Moreover, you can watch an amazing film about La Gomera. After our stop we will continue forward to the National Park Garajonay. The nature park „Parque Nacional de Garajonay“ owe its name to the lovers Gara, the princess of Gomera, and Jonay from Tenerife. Their families did not accept the relationship, so Gara and Jonay decided to sting a wooden lance in their breast at the highest peak of Gomera to kill themselves. The special feature of this National Park is the millennium laurel forest. We will make our second stop in the Restaurant „La Laguna Grande“ here in this historic surrounding (adapted WC). Our journey takes us now trough the breathtaking nature of La Gomera back to the capital San Sebastian, where you can stroll a while in case of good traffic conditions.
